The TPI-1005-A is basically the same unit as the TPI-1001-B except that a number of additional circuits have been added to address the LMR (Land Mobil Radio) systems testing and tuning. These circuits include an internal waveform generator, a DTMF generator, an updated VCTCXO generator that allows for narrow band FM, a Ramp generator and various other improvements.
